A band of fearless adventurers sets off across uncharted seas on a voyage to bring back the golden fleece from a distant, unknown land. They do not go as treasure hunters, but on a noble quest for a precious object whose magic properties will bestow -or so they hope- great happiness upon mankind. Led by Jason, they overcome a thousand obstacles, only to find that when they reach their destination the object of their quest is unattainable. They are about to sacrifice their lives in vain when help comes from an unexpected quarter and a woman's love achieves the impossible. The golden fleece is delivered into Jason's hands. But a noble cause can only be fought for with clean hands - and Jason stains his with an impious murder, bringing down the wrath of the gods upon the terrible voyage home. As for the fleece, its magic power fades, along with Jason's love for the princess who betrayed her people to obtain it for him. When he in turn betrays her, a tragedy of hideous vengeance is enacted - the tragedy that bears the name "Medea".
